<p>The Clan Hannay Kilt is woven in soft white, crossed with pale blue, black, and gold windowpane checks — a light, dress-style colourway with real Galloway roots.</p>
<p>Clan Hannay traces its origins to the ancient princedom of Galloway, where Gilbert de Hanneth received lands in Wigtownshire around 1170 and established the family seat at Sorbie Castle near Whithorn. Gilbert de Hannethe appears on the Ragman Roll of 1296, though the Hannays sided with John Balliol rather than Robert the Bruce, reflecting their local ties to the Celtic princes of Galloway. Their historic seat, Sorbie Tower, still stands near the village of Sorbie in Dumfries and Galloway, and the clan’s tartan was officially recorded in 1984.</p>
<p>This light, crisp colourway suits weddings, Highland dancing, and formal Highland occasions.</p>
<p>Each kilt is made to measure from a quality wool blend, hand-pleated to the sett, with a flat front apron and the traditional leather straps and buckles at the waist.</p>
