The hart, Scotland’s red deer stag, has long stood as a symbol of the Highlands, and this tartan takes its name from that emblem rather than any single family.

The sett is built on blue and green blocked together, crossed by a bright red overcheck with fine white and gold lines. It carries the weight of a proper clan tartan while remaining open to anyone drawn to what the hart represents: wildness, endurance and the Highland landscape itself.

The red deer has roamed Scotland’s glens and mountains since long before recorded history, and the stag appears again and again in Highland heraldry, clan crests and estate symbolism, standing for strength, nobility and the untamed country of the north.

It suits weddings, Highland Games and any occasion where a bold, symbolic tartan feels right, whether or not you carry a specific clan name. Wear it with a Argyll kilt jacket, add a leather sporran, and finish with a set of kilt hose.

Woven in tartan wool blend as a 5-yard kilt, or 8-yard for deeper pleating and heavier drape. Knife-pleated at the back with a flat front apron, fastened with leather straps and metal buckles. Made to your measurements, so send your waist and length and it is cut to fit.
