Huntly is a district tartan, named for the Aberdeenshire town and the old lands of Strathbogie rather than a single clan. That makes it a tartan anyone can wear.

The sett is one of the most colourful in Highland dress: green and purple grounds crossed with red and blue blocks and fine white overcheck lines. It was woven by Wilsons of Bannockburn in the late 18th century, and district tartans like this were worn at the time of the ’45 by Gordons, Forbeses, Brodies, Munros and others across the north-east.

It works for weddings, Highland Games, and anyone with north-east Scottish roots but no single clan pattern to claim. Wear it with a leather sporran and a pair of ghillie brogues.

A district tartan for the whole of the north-east.
