Clan MacFarlane held Arrochar at the head of Loch Long, on the western shore of Loch Lomond, and traced its line to the old Celtic Earls of Lennox. The full moon was known as “MacFarlane’s Lantern” for the clan’s night raids.
The sett is a bright red ground crossed with blocks of green and navy and picked out with white and black lines, a bold, cheerful tartan in the Loch Lomond style.
It suits weddings, clan gatherings, and Highland Games, and carries the name of the Arrochar MacFarlanes. Wear it with an Argyll jacket and a semi-dress sporran, finished with a set of kilt hose.
Wear it for the occasion, or because the name is yours.
