<p>Clan MacLellan traces its origins to medieval Galloway, with Sir William MacLellan receiving the barony of Bombie in Kirkcudbrightshire around 1384. The name derives from the Gaelic “Mac Gille Fhaolain,” meaning “son of the servant of Saint Fillan,” and the family’s influence in the region was so strong they gave their name to Balmaclellan in the Stewartry. Sir Thomas MacLellan of Bombie built MacLellan’s Castle in Kirkcudbright in the late 16th century, and the family were made Lords Kirkcudbright in 1633, with one MacLellan fighting at the Battle of Philiphaugh in 1645.</p>
<p>This rich teal-and-red colourway suits Highland games, weddings, and any occasion calling for a tartan with real Galloway heritage.</p>
