Clan MacNeil holds the island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides, ruling from Kisimul Castle, a sea-fort set on a rock in the bay. The chiefs are among the oldest recorded lines in the Isles.
The sett runs a bright blue and green ground crossed with black and picked out with fine white and yellow lines. The strong blue carries the colour of the Hebridean sea that surrounds Barra.
