Clan Men’s Hall Tartan Kilt

Hall is a name from the Scottish Borders, not the Highlands, and this tartan carries the darker, more rugged colours of that country.

The sett runs in olive green and deep purple, crossed with fine orange-gold and red lines. It has an earthy, weathered look, closer to heather and hillside than to the brighter clan setts of the north.

The Halls were among the sixty riding families of the Middle Marches, the Border country between Scotland and England, with strongholds through Redesdale, Liddesdale and East Teviotdale. They were Border Reivers, feared and well known on both sides of the line, and though the family never held a single recognised chief, the name is still worn with pride by those who trace their roots to that hard country.
