Clan Men’s MacQueen Tartan Kilt

Every MacQueen wears black and red at the heart of their tartan, a bold check that carries the family’s ties to two great Highland clans at once.

The sett runs on a black ground, crossed with red blocks and fine yellow lines. It is a striking, high-contrast pattern that reads as similar in structure to the Fraser and Gunn tartans, both built on the same style of bold striping.

The MacQueens descend from the Clan Revan, led south by Revan MacMulmor MacAngus MacQueen and his kinsmen from Clan Donald to seek the protection of the Mackintosh chief of Clan Chattan. Many Hebridean MacQueens settled in Strathdearn and became recognised septs of Clan Chattan, and the tartan itself is considered a combination of the MacDonald and Mackintosh patterns, reflecting that dual heritage.
