The Clan Smith Tartan Kilt carries one of the most widespread names in the English-speaking world — and one with genuine Highland roots. In Gaelic the smith was the Mac a’ Ghobhainn, “son of the smith,” a craft so vital that the Smiths were long associated with the great Clan Chattan confederation. To wear the Smith tartan is to claim that old working heritage, wherever the name has since travelled.

The sett is a handsome Highland blend: a ground of green and blue crossed by black, with fine overchecks of gold and red woven through. The greens and blues read as hill and loch, cool and classic, while the warm lines keep the pattern lively and give it real depth.

It suits weddings, gatherings and daywear alike. Pair it with an Argyll kilt jacket, add a leather sporran, and draw the green through with a set of kilt hose.

Wear it for the occasion, or because the name is yours.
