This tartan’s origins trace to a 1726 portrait of Peregrine, 2nd Viscount Dunblane, once hanging in Yorkshire’s Hornby Castle before being sold at auction in 2005 — the pattern was later revived in 1822, likely for King George IV’s famous visit to Edinburgh. The area’s history is also tied to the 1715 Battle of Sherriffmuir, fought near the town.</p>
