The Durie Tartan Kilt is woven in rich olive-green, crossed with burgundy windowpane checks and fine navy lines — an earthy, distinguished Lowland colourway.

The Durie name traces to the lands of Durie in Scoonie, Fife, granted by Regnold le Cheine to Gilbert, son of Robert, Earl of Strathearn, with family ancestry documented as far back as the 1260s. “Durie” is a Gaelic place name possibly meaning “black stream,” likely a reference to Fife’s rich coal seams. The Duries were never part of the Highland clan system — they’re a proud Lowland family tracing further back through the Celtic Earls of Strathearn to a Pictish past. This tartan was designed by Harry Lindley of Kinloch Anderson for family use after the Durie Arms were matriculated with the Court of the Lord Lyon in 1988.

This earthy olive-and-burgundy colourway suits everyday Highland wear, semi-formal gatherings, and anyone proud of their Lowland Fife roots.

Each kilt is made to measure from a premium wool blend, hand-pleated to the sett, with a flat front apron and the traditional leather straps and buckles at the waist.

An earthy Durie tartan carrying Fife’s Lowland heritage.

Kirsty MacLaren –
Absolutely thrilled with my Durie Tartan Kilt. It holds beautifully during events, and the tartan colours are rich and vibrant.
