<p>Dyce is a name tied to the parish just north of Aberdeen, with John De Diss recorded as a Burgess of Aberdeen as early as 1467, documenting the name’s presence in the region during the medieval period. Dyce is recognised as a sept — a smaller family branch — of Clan Skene, meaning those bearing the Dyce name are traditionally welcomed under the wider Skene clan banner. The tartan itself was first illustrated in W. & A. K. Johnston’s “The Tartans of the Clans & Septs of Scotland,” published in 1906.</p>
