<p>The Erskine Ancient Tartan Kilt is woven in vivid orange-red, crossed with dark green windowpane checks and fine black and gold lines — the classic red-and-green Erskine colourway.</p>
<p>This tartan was first recorded in the 1842 Vestiarium Scoticum in red and green, and it belongs to one of Scotland’s most prominent families: the Erskines, who rose through royal service to become Earls of Mar, one of the oldest and most prestigious titles in the country. When Alexander, Earl of Mar, died in 1435, Sir Robert Erskine claimed the title, and though the crown briefly withdrew it, Mary, Queen of Scots restored the earldom to the family in the 16th century. Today the chiefship is held by the Earl of Mar and Kellie, keeping the Erskine line active and recognised.</p>
<p>This vivid red-and-green colourway suits weddings, Highland games, and any occasion calling for a bold historic tartan.</p>
<p>Each kilt is made to measure from a premium wool blend, hand-pleated to the sett, with a flat front apron and the traditional leather straps and buckles at the waist.</p>
