Fletcher Ancient Tartan Kilt

<p>The Fletcher Ancient Tartan Kilt sets the main Fletcher sett on a royal-blue ground, crossed with green and black windowpane checks and a fine red line — the traditional “ancient” dye treatment carried across the clan’s tartans.</p>
<p>The name Fletcher comes from the Gaelic “Mac-an-Leister” — son of the arrow-maker — and the clan traces its ancestry to Angus Mac-an-Leister, born around 1450, generally recognised as the earliest recorded chief. The Fletchers became hereditary arrowsmiths to Clan MacGregor, an alliance so close that a Fletcher is said to have once saved the life of Rob Roy MacGregor when he was wounded, and Fletchers who can trace their line to the ancient MacGregor homelands are entitled to share fully in MacGregor heritage and tartan. In the decades following Culloden, many Fletchers were cleared from their Highland homeland and emigrated to Canada and the United States.</p>
<p>This deep blue-and-green colourway suits Highland games, weddings, and any occasion calling for a tartan with real weight of history.</p>
<p>Each kilt is made to measure from a premium wool blend, hand-pleated to the sett, with a flat front apron and the traditional leather straps and buckles at the waist.</p>
