Macleod of Lewis Ancient Tartan Kilt

<p>The Macleod of Lewis Ancient Tartan Kilt sets the MacLeod pattern on a rich golden-yellow ground, crossed with bold black windowpane checks and a fine red-orange line — the traditional “ancient” dye treatment that gives this famous sett its warm, weathered depth.</p>
<p>This tartan belongs to Siol Torquil, the MacLeods of Lewis, one of two great branches of Clan MacLeod alongside the MacLeods of Harris and Dunvegan. The line descends from Torquil, son of Leod (the clan’s 13th-century progenitor, said to descend from Olaf the Black, King of Man and the Isles), who was granted the barony of Assynt and lands across Lewis by David II in the 14th century. The MacLeods of Lewis fought fiercely to hold their island territory through centuries of feuding with the MacKenzies, and though the main Lewis line was eventually extinguished, chiefship of Siol Torquil passed to the MacLeods of Raasay.</p>
<p>This golden ancient colourway suits Highland games, ceilidhs, and any MacLeod who wants their island heritage on full display.</p>
<p>Each kilt is made to measure from a premium wool blend, hand-pleated to the sett, with a flat front apron and the traditional leather straps and buckles at the waist.</p>
